"The Summer King"
©2002

Here we see a depiction of the Horned God as seen by some sects of the Feri tradition. Sometimes called the Summer King, or the Harvest Lord, he represents the radiance of the sun, and the life giving powers of virility. His skin is golden, and his neck is adorned with a swathe of summer flowers. He has the head of a stag —a reminder that He is primal in nature. Like most Horned Gods he is overtly sexual, but is also a nurturer... he is the God in His aspect as 'Father' and 'Lover', and as such may be prayed to for guidance, and even as a surrogate for those aforementioned roles if need be.

I wanted this image to reflect the eroticism that this God represents, while still depicting His softer nature. His phallus is semi-erect, hinting at sexual arousal but not exclusively so. He leans back with his legs spread to offer us His sex—a stance that is neither domineering, nor submissive.
