INTRODUCTION
from The
Stars Within the Earth
In
the Western magical tradition, many have sought spiritual
inspiration from above, associating starlight with enlightenment.
Yet the stars can seem so distant, the divine so far from
where we stand. Thank the Gods that we have poets, those who
can lasso the stars and learn their secrets, who can reverse
the act of Creation by turning light again into words. This
is true magic.
You
will find that this collection is full of magic. It manifests
most apparently as rites, as liturgy, as directions for
traversing other realms. In more abstract form it is the
magic of transformation, such as is wrought by love. Love
for both the mortal and the divine. Throughout this work
there is alchemy at play, transmuting esoteric romance into
passion that tangibly quickens the heart, and exposing the
sacredness inherent in the profane. The message, in its
myriad expressions, never fails to remind us that magic
resides within us, just as the stars reside also inside
the earth.
I
have watched his work evolve, doing so in directions I would
never have ventured. For over a decade (at the time of this
writing), I have been stirred by the magic of Storms
words, and, I hope, inspired him in turn. He has shared
with me many dreams and visions that remain intimate between
us, while others he has shared with the world, such as inspired
him to take the name Faerywolf. These poems
are something in-between; magic released into the world
for all to experience, and for every heart to have personal
intimacy with.
